Antelope Valley Newspapers, Inc. Class Action

On December 19, 2007, two former employees of Antelope Valley Newspapers initiated a Class Action lawsuit on behalf of all Non-exempt, hourly employees of Antelope Valley Newspapers from December 19, 2003 to the Present for wage and hour violations. A class and a subclass were certified and defined as:

All current and former California-based, hourly, non-exempt employees of Defendant ANTELOPE VALLEY NEWSPAPERS, INC. who were employed by ANTELOPE VALLEY NEWSPAPERS, INC. between December 19, 2003 and the present (hereinafter, "the CLASS").

All former California-based, hourly, non-exempt employees of Defendant ANTELOPE VALLEY NEWSPAPERS, INC. who separated their employment with ANTELOPE VALLEY NEWSPAPERS, INC. between December 19, 2003 and the present (hereinafter, "the SUBCLASS.").

The Class Action complaint seeks monetary damages for:

  1. Failing to pay all overtime compensation;
  2. Failing to provide properly itemized wage statements;
  3. Failing to pay all wages due at separation of employment; and
  4. Unlawful and unfair business practices.
